OUR story...
Miss Tammy founded the Academy in 1991 with a vision of creating a place where dancers could grow not only in technique, but also in confidence, character, and a lifelong love of dance. More than 35 years later, that vision continues to inspire generations of dancers, making the Academy one of the area's premier dance education studios.
Tammy's passion for dance began at the age of six and has taken her around the world. Throughout her career, she has performed in more than 30 pageants, including 12 within the Miss Iowa organization, and has entertained audiences as far away as Denmark and Russia. Her talent for choreography also led her to direct the dance team for the semi-professional Thunder basketball team before earning a spot as a Chicago Bulls Luvabull dancer. In addition to her performance career, Tammy holds a degree in Business and is a certified instructor through Dance Educators of America. She combines her professional experience with a passion for teaching, mentoring, and helping young dancers discover their full potential both on and off the stage.
Beyond the studio, Tammy has dedicated countless hours to serving the community. She has been involved with school fundraisers, talent shows, festivals, and charitable events, including chairing both Wild About the Child and the Genesis Health System Charity Gala. Since 2009, she has continued to lead the Wild About the Child fundraiser, which supports camp experiences for at-risk children. Family has always been at the heart of Tammy's journey. She and her husband, Ajay, along with their children, Sydney and Aidan, enjoy traveling, spending time together, cooking at home, and creating lasting memories with family and friends.
The Academy remains a reflection of Tammy's belief that dance is about more than learning, it's about building confidence, creating lifelong friendships, and inspiring every child to shine in their own way.
